“If a man has lost an eye or an arm, he knows he has lost an eye or an arm; but if he has lost himself, he cannot know it, for there is no one he can ask.”

-The man who mistook his wife for a hat-

Oliver Sacks

Natalia and Faustino have been living NOMADELY for several years, never settling in one place. This experience creates a feeling of DISMISSAL that leads them to ask the following question: what can we hold on to, so we don't get lost along the way?

Memory is a given! Knowing who we are, where we came from, and where we are going anchors us to the present.

Natalia and Faustino are loosely inspired by the clinical case recounted in Oliver Sacks' chapter “The Lost Sailor” to create THANKS TO THE BODY, the story of a man who struggles not to continuously lose his memories, telling of a loneliness that becomes a frightening nightmare, very touching and sometimes even funny.

The play presents on stage the present of a lost man, floating among the scattered pieces of the puzzle of his memory. Between moments of lucidity and sudden forgetfulness, he travels without knowing either his destination or his point of departure.

Bordering between physical theater, performance, and dance, Le Marin Perdu relies on gaze, thought, inner monologue, action, and pause to express a motricity of contradiction where the sequence of movements creates a dance, a dance of the mind.
